In 2017 U.S. fertility rates reached a record low, at 62.0 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age, according to the most recent government figures. For every 1,000 women of childbearing age – typically defined as ages 15 to 44 – there were 62.0 births. According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, men are either the sole or contributing cause in about 40 percent of all infertility cases. On one hand women are inundated with endless fertility diets, special fertility boosting yoga practices, and various fertility apps on their phones. On the other hand, men pay little attention to their role in healthy reproduction. Some folks view this issue as a positive in hopes of conserving the Earth's natural resources. Other's believe that low fertility rates will cripple the nation's economy in the future and much more. Regardless of your stance, I am here to help!

Fertility acupuncture combines the long standing complex wisdom of Eastern Medicine and the modern research of Western Medicine. Chinese medicine diagnoses vary widely from one person to the next. Treatments are designed around your specific diagnosis as well as what we have learned to be effective in research. Acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin at points along energy pathways, or "meridians", that travel throughout the entire body. The acupuncture points that are stimulated send signals to the brain and organs to produce the desired effect.

Acupuncture works by balancing the hormones, increasing blood flow, and decreasing inflammation. For fertility, blood flow is focused to the uterus and ovaries to ensure well nourished eggs and a supple lining for implantation. Western medicine has shown that acupuncture has a direct effect on the nervous system. By needling certain places, the body releases biochemical signals that stop the nervous system from being in a hyper stressed state. In turn, this regulates hormones throughout the body and allows the body to relax, which is a vital role in the path to pregnancy. Herbal formulas are carefully chosen for each patient based on their diagnosis, goals, and treatment plan. They change throughout the cycle and help to regulate the hormone cascade. They are safe to use during other fertility treatments. Extensive research is proving the effectiveness of acupuncture for fertility, both in natural conception and with Assisted Reproductive Techniques. Studies have displayed positive changes such as; male factor fertility, pregnancy support, miscarriage prevention, and Integrative care with IVF and IUI.

While the pharmaceutical industry searches for a drug to help with America's fertility crisis, we already know the combination of acupuncture and Chinese Herb's produces profound results for both men and women. Based on research, we know that receiving acupuncture during the follicular, ovulatory, and luteal phases of your cycle significantly increases chances of conception.

Many couples experience miscarriage during their journey to having a family. While it is important to recognize this is a common occurrence, repeated loss can cause extreme amounts of stress and agony, leading to further complications with fertility in the future. After a miscarriage, it is important to allow the body to go back to a normal rhythm and heal properly. Acupuncture has been shown to bring the hormones back into balance and create a strong environment for a healthy future pregnancy. Weekly treatments through the first trimester keeps mom healthy and baby thriving!
