Microneedling

At Evergreen Medical Acupuncture, one of our most popular services is Cosmetic Acupuncture with our facial rejuvenation specialists, Dr. Jill Zundelevich and Dr. Jen Kralowetz. Primarily, this procedure increases natural collagen and elastin in the skin. It’s a fascinating therapy that stimulates collagen by degranulating mast cells. These tiny white blood cells carry around collagen, and when disturbed, they spill their contents, collagen, and anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-4. Just the act of locally disrupting the connective tissue alone will force your body’s natural healing abilities to produce more collagen and elastin.

Why Microneedling?

Why would someone get microneedling in the first place? Microneedling is the most effective, natural cosmetic therapy out there, especially if you are looking for an alternative to botox without the synthetic look. An electronic pen is used to rapidly insert 12 tiny needles. Anyone who is struggling with acne, scars, wrinkles, dark spots and discolorations, crow’s feet, bags and swelling under the eyes, dark circles, rosacea, fine or thin skin, stretch marks or hair loss... this is for you. This is a way more effective, comfortable and painless treatment than cosmetic acupuncture alone.

Our Microneedling Technology

Our microneedling pen fires at 18,000 reps per minute, which is so fast you can hardly feel the little induction needles. Our pen is double the speed as most commercial microneedling pens, which increases your results and absorption of products. The best part of the treatment is the serums: often, custom herbal concentrates are added to the skin first so the microneedling pen can push and penetrate the serums into the skin for a more anti-inflammatory, hydrating and glowing effect. Placing serums and products on the skin before and after microneedling increases absorption by 2,000%, which is a very good reason to make sure you are using very high-quality products. This specialized pen is something you won’t get at any other microneedling session elsewhere. Our cosmetic specialist will advise you on a customized skin regime based on your unique needs. All skincare that we use is organic, which, for the cosmetic industry, is very hard to find.

Our Microneedling Specialists

Dr. Jill Zundelevich & Dr. Jen Kralowetz

Because Dr. Jill and Dr. Jen are licensed acupuncturist, they can take into account why these skin issues might be happening in the first place. Is it diet or lifestyle-related? There are many things that, as a qualified Doctor of Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine, they can address and assess when administering microneedling. They might even look at your blood tests to see if there is a major imbalance causing your skin problems. We can add body acupuncture points to assist with those core problems if we find that in the initial intake/exam.

Someone who’s interested in pursuing microneedling could expect to come in once every 3-4 weeks. The session is relaxing and takes between 30-60 minutes per session. There is virtually no risk of bruising and a numbing cream can be applied beforehand if someone is very sensitive. Add-ons are available for other body parts like the neck, décolletage, stomach, hands, or head for hair loss. We apply custom herbal serum for your particular complaints and adds hyaluronic acid to the skin afterward to seal in the moisture. A cooling mask is also added afterward, which is the best part! After the session is complete, it is advised to stay out of the sun for 24 hours, and sunscreen must be worn after receiving microneedling to protect your skin. Your results will be based on your age, condition of your skin, and your home skin care regimen. For most people, you will see and feel results in 4-6 treatments.

The Results of Microneedling

Many patients notice a glowing effect after just one treatment. We also offer a combination of microneedling and cosmetic acupuncture together to expedite results. Cosmetic acupuncture inserts one needle at a time under each wrinkle or near a saggy spot. It excels in helping lift saggy skin. Therefore, adding the two therapies together, doing cosmetic one week and microneedling another, you can expect your results to last 3-5 years. Unlike botox, which needs to be refilled yearly, microneedling and cosmetic treatments last far longer, look more natural and are very safe.
